2016 Bell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
93 pts, Wine Advocate
When Chris James and Ames Morison founded the winery in 1998, they were committed to quality wine through mindful and organic farming on our Bell Mountain Estate Ranch. The 338 acre property is less than 20% planted to vine. The unique location affords us several microclimates and well-drained, gravelly-clay soil with a compacted layer of volcanic ash underneath to grow our grapes. The mountain-grown fruit in this Alexander Valley location is exceptional for the combination of blue and red fruit flavors.
Our 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon provides classic Bordeaux red fruit aromas of raspberry and ripe Bing cherry with notes of perfume, vanilla, cinnamon, and black pepper. On the palate we find a dynamic tension between the tannin and acid that provides a precarious balance; one that delivers on the fruit’s complexity. The wine opens with flavors of roasted meat, cocoa, blackberry, and cinnamon toast, and finishes with root beer and caramel. A pure delight!
