The 2011 vintage presented us with many weather related challenges but diligent farming and careful attention to our vines meant that we were able to produce elegant, balanced wines with great aging potential. Cold, wet conditions throughout winter and spring delayed budbreak in the vineyard significantly. By the time our vines began to bloom in late June, we were still experiencing cold rainy days that affected pollination and left us with smaller clusters, more petite berries, and a smaller overall crop. The cooler weather, however, allowed our grapes to hang on the vines longer without over-ripening. As a result, our 2011 wines have lower alcohol, beautiful color, and nuanced flavors unique to this memorable vintage.

With nearly 50 distinct vineyard blocks here on Bell Mountain, we end up with great and varied components with which to build our red wines. The blocks of Malbec and Petit Verdot that we planted in 2008 have really come into their own and provided us with outstanding fruit to complement our Cabernet Sauvignon.
